This is Boo. He’s an incredibly chill horse. He’s also basically blind.
He lost one eye to cancer and then some thug shot him and his field mate in the eye with a pellet gun. He still has the pellet lodged in his eye, since it is stable and would do more damage being removed than left in. They believe he can still see light/shadow through his remaining eye.
He lives in a specially designed field with wind chimes to let him know where the water trough is, feed always left in the same place and a field mate with bells in his mane. :)
I was trying to work out where I know this horse from, haven’t actually met him but a photographer I know has done a project on him!

Ah, brilliant! He is awesome. So chilled - you’d never know he was blind.
I’m sure he can see something out of that eye. Everyone was crowded around the gate and I went around the side on this gravelled bit to take these pics as we approached. Obviously I’d seen his missing eye but didn’t know his other eye was blind, but he heard me and turned his whole head so his right eye was facing towards me, even though I was on his left. I’d imagine that if he was totally blind he’d maybe turn his head to listen better but I’m sure that turning his actual eye towards me must indicate that he does have some vision in it, even if it’s just shadows.
